Adcock Ingram’s Research, Development and Implementation (RD&I) site is one of 12 QC laboratories in the world (and one of two in South Africa) to have received World Health Organisation (WHO) Pre-Qualification accreditation. This is an achievement we’ve attained by maintaining a high standard in all processes from inception to completion. In addition, Adcock Ingram’s RD&I site was the first stand-alone-R&D site in South Africa to secure MCC accreditation for the manufacture and testing of pharmaceutical products for human consumption. Adcock Ingram has a joint venture with Synexus Clinical Research plc called AddClin Research, a Phase I clinical research facility. AddClin Research offers a one-stop clinical research service extending from study design development through to writing protocols, obtaining necessary regulatory approvals, clinical execution, reports and post-marketing surveillance. It has a 36-bed bio-equivalence unit. In 2009, Adcock Ingram’s RD&I facility invested R2 million in new generation Liquid Chromatographic equipment and USP III Dissolution apparatus. This apparatus will be the first of a few to be used in testing a new range of sustained release products currently under development. The combination of a robust new product pipeline, brand building expertise, quality and efficiency has placed Adcock Ingram in a leading market position in terms of volume market share.
